Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that all three of the club’s January signings—Vitor Reis, Abdukodir Khusanov and Omar Marmoush—are in the squad to face Chelsea on Saturday.
City made a significant splash in the winter transfer market, spending £128 million, more than all other Premier League clubs combined in January 2024. Brazilian defender Vitor Reis, Uzbek talent Abdukodir Khusanov, and Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush have all been added to bolster Guardiola’s squad.
Chelsea fans on X have reacted with bold confidence despite City’s reinforcements.
“Bro can’t function without oil money. Still gonna lose,” one fan claimed, taking aim at City’s spending.
A second fan remained optimistic: “Three new boys against us. No shaking, I’m confident against City.”
“Can they stop Palmer?” another asked, referring to Chelsea’s in-form star, Cole Palmer.
Others expressed unwavering belief in Chelsea’s resurgence:
“City are going hard for the league, they’ve spent the money wisely, but why am I not afraid?” one fan remarked.
“Even if they add Rodri to that squad, they will still collect,” another said.
“We are back to winning ways, no need to fear whoever City put in front of us,” another fan added, showing faith in Enzo Maresca’s team.
City head into the clash on the back of a 6-0 thrashing of Ipswich Town in their last Premier League outing but recently fell 4-2 to PSG in the Champions League. While they remain defending Premier League champions, Guardiola’s men have shown massive signs of vulnerability this season.
With Chelsea gaining momentum and the fans’ confidence soaring, Saturday’s clash at the Etihad promises to be a blockbuster showdown.
