Chelsea’s 20-year-old midfielder Andrey Santos is catching the attention of Europe’s biggest clubs during his loan spell at French side Strasbourg.

With six goals in 17 Ligue 1 appearances, Santos’ stellar performances are drawing scouts from clubs like Bayern Munich, AC Milan, and now Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

PSG’s interest was sparked by influential French journalist Pierre Ménès, who urged the Parisians to act fast. “Andrey Santos is compatible with the game of Luis Enrique,” Ménès said on his YouTube channel.

“He would have a slightly more defensive role, which would push forward Vitinha, who would then have a better offensive impact on the PSG game. But will PSG have the intelligence to watch a Strasbourg player? Let me say I’d doubt that.”

Despite skepticism about PSG’s scouting tendencies, Ménès’ suggestion highlights Santos’ growing reputation in France. Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior has been vocal in his praise of the Brazilian:

“Andrey is amazing. It is a great pleasure to work with him. He constantly shows professionalism every day in his work, he constantly wants to improve, and constantly trains at 100%.”

“On the pitch, he plays like a very experienced player, almost like a coach.”

Rosenior’s faith in Santos culminated in him handing the player the captain’s armband in the absence of Habib Diarra, a decision that underscores the young midfielder’s maturity. “There were other players that had a worthy cause to be captain, but I felt that Andrey was the right choice,” Rosenior stated.

Off the pitch, Santos is winning hearts as well, conducting post-match interviews in French—a gesture that has endeared him to Strasbourg fans and the wider football community in France.
