Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has downplayed title talk ahead of his team’s crucial Premier League showdown against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
In his pre-match press conference, Maresca stressed the importance of maintaining balance and perspective, even if the Blues secure a victory.
“I think if you see the top six in this moment, we beat Bournemouth away, we beat Newcastle at home, we drew with Arsenal and lost to City and Liverpool. It is a matter of balance,” Maresca explained.
While confident in his team’s ability to compete with the league’s best, Maresca tempered expectations regarding a title challenge.
“We are going to beat the big teams, for sure, but winning tomorrow doesn’t mean we will challenge for the title,” he stated.
Chelsea currently sit fourth in the Premier League table with 40 points from 22 matches, while Manchester City trail closely in fifth with 38 points. With both sides aiming to bolster their Champions League hopes, the clash promises to be a pivotal moment in the season.
