Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has shed light on the club’s stance regarding the future of midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall amid speculation over a potential departure in the January transfer window.

With injuries to key midfielders Romeo Lavia and Enzo Fernandez, questions have been raised about how this might impact the 25-year-old’s role at the club.

However, Maresca made it clear that Dewsbury-Hall’s situation is not directly tied to the absences of Lavia and Fernandez.

Speaking to the media, the Chelsea boss stated:

“No. We are not going to take a decision on Kiernan because of Romeo and Enzo.”

Despite confirming that Lavia and Fernandez remain sidelined, Maresca reiterated Chelsea’s intent to retain Dewsbury-Hall, while acknowledging the unpredictable nature of the January transfer window.

“They are injured, absolutely. I said already, a few days ago or weeks ago, that the intention is to keep Kiernan but then because we are in January anything can happen.”

However, as the transfer window progresses, it remains to be seen whether interest from other clubs could alter the situation.

Chelsea fans will be hoping for clarity soon as the January window draws to a close, with Dewsbury-Hall’s future likely to remain a hot topic in the coming days.
