Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez made his fourth error leading to a goal this season, nearly costing the Blues a crucial win in their Premier League clash against Wolves.
The mistake occurred in the fifth minute of added time in the first-half when Sanchez failed to hold onto Matheus Cunha’s corner, allowing Matt Doherty to score from close range. The equaliser cancelled out Tosin Adarabioyo’s earlier goal, which had put Chelsea ahead.
Sanchez’s decision to catch the ball in a crowded box rather than punch it clear has drawn heavy criticism. This latest blunder places him second only to Ipswich’s Arijanet Muric, who has committed five errors leading to goals this season.
Chelsea had dominated much of the first half, but Wolves’ late equaliser extended the Blues’ winless league run to six games, raising further questions about Sanchez’s reliability in goal.
