Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has called for Noni Madueke to improve his mentality, criticising the winger for “stopping playing” after scoring in the Blues’ 3-1 victory over Wolves on Monday night.
Maresca was asked if his message about mentality was being understood by Madueke, but the manager suggested fatigue might have been a factor: “No, we just try to always help them to improve, and after the goal, he was also probably a little bit tired, I don’t know.”
The Chelsea boss stressed the importance of pushing for more, even after scoring:
“But it’s the moment that we need to go for more in that moment.”
Maresca’s remarks highlight his high expectations for his players, as he continues to demand greater consistency and effort from his squad.
