Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones has stirred debate by admitting he rates Chelsea legend Eden Hazard higher than his teammate Mohamed Salah – but with an important qualifier.
Speaking to TWT Sports, Jones shared his admiration for Hazard, revealing the former Chelsea star was his childhood idol.
“I know our fans won’t like this because they always compare them, but it’s Hazard. I think that because I watched him as a child and I wanted to be like him. Every game I watched him saying: ‘wow, this is football.’ Is he a better footballer than Mo? I think so,” Jones said.
However, Jones clarified his stance, explaining that while he admired Hazard’s style of play, he would still prefer having Salah on his team.
The reason? “He brings more goals and assists,” Jones added.
Jones’ comments highlight Hazard’s enduring legacy, even as Salah continues to shine as one of Liverpool’s greatest-ever players. For Chelsea fans, it’s another reminder of just how special Hazard was during his time at Stamford Bridge.
