What Mauricio Pochettino said about Chelsea linked Alejandro Garnacho

Former Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino previously shared his admiration for Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho, describing him as an “exciting and talented” young player.

Garnacho, now 20 years old, is one of United’s brightest prospects, although he still struggles with the inconsistency typical of a player his age.

Back in December 2023, ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Manchester United, Pochettino offered high praise for the winger:

“He is an exciting player, young and talented. It’s not surprising to us because we knew about him when he was in Spain before moving to Manchester. It’s good to see a young player being brave and showing the talent that he is showing.”

With Garnacho already showcasing his attacking threat, Chelsea fans might wonder if he fits the profile of the Blues’ recent signings. The club has favoured bringing in young, high-potential players to Stamford Bridge. However, while Garnacho could be an exciting addition, Chelsea’s pressing need for a central striker may take precedence over chasing another winger.

As the January transfer window unfolds, the Blues’ focus should remain on strengthening key positions rather than pursuing a move for the inconsistent yet undeniably talented Argentine. For now, Garnacho remains one of Manchester United’s prized assets, and any links to Chelsea will spark significant debate among fans and pundits alike.
