Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has disclosed that the club received an official apology from the PGMOL for a missed penalty decision during a recent game.

Although Maresca did not specify the match, it is believed he was referring to the January 4 clash against Crystal Palace, where Pedro Neto was brought down in the box, but no penalty was awarded.

Speaking to reporters, Maresca said: “Two or three games ago I remember they didn’t whistle for a penalty. Then we got a mail apologising, that it should have been a penalty. But we don’t need apologies.”

The Chelsea boss highlighted the frustration of receiving apologies without corrective action on the pitch, emphasising the need for better officiating to avoid such errors in the future.
