Chelsea have placed a £40 million valuation on defender Trevoh Chalobah following his recent return from a loan spell at Crystal Palace, according to The Sun.
The decision to recall the 24-year-old centre-back comes in the wake of injuries to Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile, leaving the Blues short of defensive options.
Despite his return, Chalobah’s long-term future at Stamford Bridge remains uncertain. Chelsea are reportedly planning to sell him in the summer, confident that his market value has increased over recent months. The club had been willing to accept a significantly lower fee last summer but now believe they can command a premium fee for their academy graduate.
A January departure for Chalobah is highly unlikely due to FIFA regulations, as he would be unable to play for a third team this season if he features for Chelsea. This ensures he will remain part of Enzo Maresca’s squad for the rest of the campaign, providing much-needed cover in defence.
