Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has challenged his squad to rise above their current struggles, emphasising that his players must learn to handle adversity.
The Blues are enduring a poor run of form, having failed to win a Premier League match since December 15 and slipping out of the top four.
Despite their dip in performance, Maresca remains firm in his belief that the team has the capacity to bounce back.
“They are not children. Most of them are in their early 20s. They need to deal with difficulties,” Maresca said in an interview with The Independent.
“These kinds of moments happen at all clubs, not just ours. Every team has gone through moments like this, except for Liverpool. It’s just about how you handle this moment. You have to try to react and start winning matches again.”
Maresca has previously downplayed Chelsea’s readiness to compete for the Premier League title, even during better spells earlier in the season. Now, he’s urging his squad to regroup and view the current situation as a learning curve.
“This is a new situation for them, they’re going through it now, and when it happens again, they’ll be able to overcome it better,” Maresca added.
With the pressure mounting, Chelsea fans will hope Maresca’s message inspires the team to rediscover their form and reignite their push for a strong league finish.
