Unhappy Crystal Palace boss reacts to surprise Chalobah recall

Trevoh Chalobah

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has expressed his hopes for a swift replacement following Chelsea’s decision to recall Trevoh Chalobah from his loan spell at Selhurst Park.

Speaking on Friday, Glasner shared his plans after Chelsea decided to recall Chalobah.

He said: “I hope we can announce a signing quite early. Maybe later today or tomorrow, and, as I mentioned, we are also looking for a second one in a different position.”

The decision to recall Chalobah came as a surprise, as Glasner admitted:

“Yes, Trevoh was a little bit surprising that he was called back by Chelsea, but very good for us is that Chadi Riad is back.”

Glasner was surprised, knowing that Enzo Maresca had banished Trevoh Chalobah from the squad before the start of the season.

While keen on reinforcements, Glasner emphasised the importance of making the right moves:

“We will discuss it and let’s see. We will just do something if it makes sense, and if we think we don’t find a right player who can help us achieving our goals, we won’t do anything.”

Palace fans will now wait to see how the club addresses the void left by Chalobah’s departure.
