Tosin Adarabioyo is expected to remain at Chelsea beyond the January transfer window, despite being linked with a move to Brighton.

While the Seagulls have long admired the 27-year-old defender, they have not acted on their summer interest this winter, according to Express Sport. No contact has been made between the clubs or Adarabioyo’s representatives.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca and the club hierarchy consider Adarabioyo a key part of the squad, especially with injuries to Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile. Adarabioyo, who primarily plays in the centre of a back-three, is seen as essential during this challenging period.

To bolster defensive options, Chelsea have recalled Trevoh Chalobah and Aaron Anselmino from their loan spells, while academy graduate Josh Acheampong has taken on increased responsibilities. However, Axel Disasi is reportedly the most likely centre-back to depart to accommodate the reshuffle.

Although Adarabioyo could command an eight-figure fee due to his value and positive impact on the club’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR), Chelsea are prioritising stability in their defensive ranks as they navigate the remainder of the season.
