As Real Madrid reportedly explore a loan move for Chelsea captain Reece James, one Los Blancos star who would be thrilled to see the right-back at the Santiago Bernabéu is Vinicius Jr.
Vinicius, who has faced James in previous Champions League battles, holds the England international in high regard. Back in 2022, the Brazilian winger spoke highly of James’ defensive prowess, stating:
“I’ve played against a lot of them [English players] and the most difficult opponents were Chelsea’s James and [Kyle] Walker of Manchester City.”
Despite Vinicius’ admiration and the ongoing links, a January move appears unlikely. Chelsea are highly unlikely to loan out their captain and key player for six months, particularly when it offers them no clear benefit.
While Vinicius would welcome a partnership with James, the England defender remains a cornerstone of Chelsea’s current and future plans. For now, any potential move to Madrid seems far off the cards, especially on the terms reportedly proposed by the Spanish giants.
