Chelsea’s concerns about Trevoh Chalobah’s suitability for Enzo Maresca’s possession-based system appear to be a thing of the past, as the club now believes the defender can adapt to the manager’s style.

Last summer, doubts were raised about Chalobah’s ability to fit into Maresca’s tactical framework. However, according to The Guardian, Chelsea have changed their stance, viewing the 24-year-old as a viable option for the team moving forward.

The decision to recall Chalobah from his loan at Crystal Palace was largely influenced by a defensive injury crisis, with Wesley Fofana and Benoît Badiashile sidelined and Axel Disasi reportedly nearing a departure.

Disasi, linked to three Champions League clubs, was left out of the matchday squad for Chelsea’s recent 2-2 draw with Bournemouth.

Despite Chalobah’s growing credibility at Stamford Bridge, his long-term future remains uncertain. Reports suggest that Chelsea could still consider selling him in the summer transfer window, depending on the club’s evolving plans.

For now, Chalobah has the opportunity to prove his value in Maresca’s system and make a strong case for his place in Chelsea’s future.
