Nicolas Jackson played a key role in Chelsea’s clash against Bournemouth, delivering a sublime assist that set up Cole Palmer’s opening goal.

However, the young striker found himself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons when he missed a golden opportunity to double the lead.

The miss, coming from just six yards out, followed a precise cutback from Noni Madueke.

While Jackson’s attempt sailed over the bar, a closer look at the replay reveals an overlooked detail: Madueke’s delivery took an awkward bounce, forcing Jackson to volley the ball under challenging conditions.

Although this doesn’t entirely absolve Jackson of responsibility for the miss, it does provide context. The unsteady trajectory made it far harder to control the shot, turning what seemed like a simple finish into a tricky attempt.

As Chelsea fans analyse the incident, it’s clear that while Jackson’s composure could improve, the circumstances of Madueke’s pass played a significant role in the missed opportunity.

Unfortunately, if that situation was well managed, Chelsea should have gotten all three points against Bournemouth.
