Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has outlined his approach to managing player satisfaction as the January transfer window looms, emphasising the club’s priority on winning games over keeping everyone content.
Speaking to the media, Maresca explained: “My first target is to try and do the best for the club and for the team – that is to try and win games.
“Then, if we can keep players happy, then we are happy. But that is not a reality. They play, they are happy and if they don’t play, they are not happy.”
Addressing the potential of players seeking moves due to limited game time, Maresca made it clear that the club’s focus is on maintaining a competitive squad:
“If you have all the players leave who are not happy [with their minutes], then you stay here with 12 players. So our intention is not to move players.”
With these comments, Maresca has reinforced his commitment to the team’s objectives, hinting that Chelsea will aim to keep their squad intact despite possible frustrations over playing time.
