Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has revealed his admiration for Jadon Sancho’s performances since the winger joined the Blues from Manchester United last summer. Sancho, 24, made the switch to Stamford Bridge on a loan deal with an obligation to buy next summer for £20-25 million.
After a tough spell at Old Trafford, where he struggled to make an impact and had a public fallout with manager Erik ten Hag, Sancho has found new life at Chelsea. His contributions have helped the club become surprise Premier League title contenders this season.
“For me, he’s doing very well,” Maresca said. “I am quite surprised with Jadon. I knew Jadon already from seeing him at his previous clubs, and I know what I expected from him, but in terms of being consistent, he’s doing very well.”
The Chelsea boss praised Sancho’s ability to maintain form over a prolonged period, an area where many players falter. “I expected him to do well, but for all the players, doing well for a long period is not easy, and he has been doing well for a long period already,” Maresca noted.
The manager also acknowledged Sancho’s brief setback earlier in the season. “Apart from a short part of the season when he had some problems, when he was out ill, then for the rest, he has been very good,” Maresca added.
Sancho’s resurgence under Maresca has reignited optimism about his potential, with the Chelsea faithful hopeful that he will continue to excel in the months ahead. “He’s doing well, now he just needs to continue going in that way,” Maresca concluded.
