Chelsea is one of six Premier League clubs under investigation as the league’s financial and legal departments assess potential breaches of Profit and Sustainability (P&S) regulations for the 2021-2024 period. The Premier League has set the stage for disciplinary action, with findings expected to be announced this week.

Manchester United, Newcastle, Leicester City, Nottingham Forest, and Everton join Chelsea on the list of clubs whose financial records have come under scrutiny. This follows the league’s request for clubs with significant losses in the first two years of the cycle to submit their accounts by December 31, 2024.

Chelsea remain confident about their compliance with P&S rules, citing strategic financial moves, such as the sale of homegrown talents Lewis Hall, Conor Gallagher and Ian Maatsen during the summer transfer window.

Additionally, the Blues generated £76.5 million by selling two Stamford Bridge hotels to BlueCo 22 last year, a move that helped them avoid penalties during the previous financial review. Another notable decision was the transfer of ownership of Chelsea Women to BlueCo 22, just days before filing the club’s 2023-24 accounts.

Everton and Nottingham Forest, both of whom faced penalties for P&S breaches last year, were docked four and two points, respectively, hinting at the potential consequences for any club found guilty of non-compliance this time. Chelsea fans will be hopeful that the club’s proactive financial measures will keep them clear of sanctions.

The Premier League is expected to announce its findings within days, leaving fans, clubs, and stakeholders anxiously awaiting the outcome.
