Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo shone during the Blues’ dominant 5-0 FA Cup victory over Morecambe, coming close to a career milestone.
Speaking to BBC Match of the Day, the centre-back revealed his excitement about being on the verge of a rare hat-trick.
“It’s the first time in my professional career I was on a hat-trick. I wanted to have another shot but the moment never came,” he admitted.
Adarabioyo described his spectacular second goal with pride. “I got into a nice position and I was in a position I look to shoot in. I managed to wrap my foot around it and put it top bins,” he explained.
The crowd’s enthusiasm added to the occasion, with fans urging him to shoot every time he touched the ball. “I heard it a couple of times when I got the ball on the halfway line. I wanted to, but I was too far out,” he said with a smile.
Reflecting on the match, Adarabioyo emphasised the importance of regular game time. “Playing games and being able to showcase your abilities is always great, so it was nice to do that one today,” he concluded.
