Chelsea loanee Armando Broja endured another devastating setback during Everton’s FA Cup victory over Peterborough at Goodison Park, leaving the pitch on a stretcher after a severe ankle injury.
The Albania international, on loan from Chelsea, appeared to twist his ankle awkwardly while attempting to avoid a challenge. Medics rushed to his aid, providing oxygen and stabilising the injury before he was carried off the field.
Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown, speaking on BBC, expressed concern over Broja’s recurring injury woes: “Armando Broja is so unlucky with injuries. He has done his ACL before and was out for a long time. Since he’s been at Everton, it has been injury after injury.”
Keown further remarked on the seriousness of the situation: “He doesn’t look well; he has done something serious to that ankle. They are giving him oxygen.”
The injury occurred as Broja chased a through ball, colliding with Peterborough keeper Nicholas Bilokapic, who rushed out to intercept. Jesper Lindstrom replaced Broja, who had only been on the pitch for a few minutes as a substitute.
While the full extent of Broja’s injury is yet to be confirmed, early indications suggest he could face a lengthy recovery period, leaving Chelsea and Everton anxiously awaiting updates on his condition.
