Chelsea are prepared to offload several high-profile but peripheral players during the January transfer window in an effort to fund the signing of a new centre-back, according to The Telegraph. Head coach Enzo Maresca is aiming to balance the squad while also strengthening his defensive options for the second half of the season.

The club is open to bids for six players who have struggled to make a significant impact this season. Among them is midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who joined Chelsea in the summer for £30 million but has seen limited game time, mainly in the Europa Conference League. Bundesliga clubs and West Ham United have expressed interest in the 26-year-old, and Chelsea could sell him permanently if the right offer arrives.

Another player potentially on the move is Carney Chukwuemeka, who has a £40 million release clause. Like Dewsbury-Hall, Chukwuemeka is also on West Ham’s radar, with Chelsea open to discussions about his future.

Defender Axel Disasi is reportedly not a good fit for Maresca’s tactical system and could also leave the club this month. Meanwhile, Cesare Casadei, another young midfielder, is attracting interest from clubs in the Netherlands, France, and Italy. Chelsea value him at over £20 million and are willing to negotiate his departure.

Left-back Ben Chilwell, who has struggled to fit into Maresca’s style of play, is also likely to leave this month. While Chelsea typically avoid loaning out senior players, they are reportedly ready to make an exception for Chilwell to allow him to gain regular game time elsewhere.

Lastly, forward Christopher Nkunku could also be on the move. Despite being a marquee signing, Nkunku has mostly featured in the Europa Conference League and is thought to be open to leaving either this month or in the summer. Chelsea are willing to listen to offers for the Frenchman, especially with João Felix available as a false nine and young Marc Guiu showing promising development.

Chelsea fans will be closely watching the January transfer window as the club looks to restructure its squad and secure reinforcements for the crucial months ahead.
