Chelsea’s attempt to re-sign England international Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace has hit a roadblock after their opening bid fell significantly below the Eagles’ £55 million valuation.
The Blues, struggling with injuries in their defensive ranks, submitted what has been described as a “cheeky” offer for the player they sold to Crystal Palace for £18 million in 2021. However, the bid was swiftly deemed insufficient by Palace.
A source revealed to Sun Sport: “Their offer was a long way off being a fair price. It was silly really, and they need to offer more to even have a hope of getting a deal done.”

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca recently hinted at the possibility of entering the January transfer market to address his defensive issues. The club’s backline has been severely impacted by injuries to key players, with Wesley Fofana potentially sidelined for the rest of the season due to a hamstring problem and Benoit Badiashile also out for an extended period.
The defensive crisis forced Maresca to hand teenage centre-back Josh Acheampong his first Premier League start against Crystal Palace on Saturday. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, further underlining Chelsea’s defensive challenges.
