Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has called on Chelsea to resist recalling Trevoh Chalobah from his loan spell, even as the Blues grapple with injury crisis.

The comments came after Palace secured a 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Selhurst Park.

Chelsea loaned Chalobah to the Eagles in August, but injuries to key defenders have left Enzo Maresca’s side short at the back. Wesley Fofana is likely to miss the remainder of the season, while Benoit Badiashile is sidelined with a hamstring issue. This forced Maresca to hand 18-year-old Josh Acheampong a Premier League start against Palace.

Speaking about Chelsea’s defensive concerns and potential transfer plans, Maresca told reporters: “Even if we don’t decide to buy players or sell players, we already knew Josh was good enough. But with Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana’s injuries, we will see if something can happen.”

Meanwhile, Glasner weighed in on the possibility of Chalobah’s recall, subtly urging Chelsea to let Chalobah continue at Selhurst Park: “I don’t know what they’re planning,” he said.

“But Trevoh is doing very well for us, and we are planning with him.”

As Chelsea weigh their options ahead of the January transfer window, the decision to recall Chalobah could depend on whether they seek reinforcements or continue to place faith in Acheampong’s development.

For now, Glasner remains hopeful Chalobah will stay with Palace, where he has become an integral part of their squad.
