Chelsea’s Premier League struggles continued as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, extending their winless streak to four matches.
The Blues took an early lead in the 14th minute when Cole Palmer found the net, courtesy of a precise assist from Jadon Sancho.
Despite dominating possession and creating multiple scoring opportunities, Chelsea failed to extend their advantage. Nicolas Jackson was notably wasteful in front of goal, missing several chances that could have secured the win.
Crystal Palace capitalised on Chelsea’s inability to put the game to bed, finding an equalizer in the 82nd minute. Jean-Philippe Mateta converted from close range after a swift counter-attack, with Eberechi Eze providing the assist.
This result leaves Chelsea clinging to fourth place in the Premier League standings with 35 points, just one point ahead of fifth-placed Newcastle United.
Manager Enzo Maresca expressed his frustration post-match, emphasising the need for his team to be more clinical in front of goal. “We created numerous chances but failed to convert them. It’s something we need to improve on to secure victories,” Maresca stated.
