Chelsea fans have voiced their concerns over the team’s winger situation, with many believing the club needs to add at least one world-class wide player to compete at the highest level.
Despite having numerous options for the position, inconsistency and other challenges have left supporters questioning the squad’s balance.
One fan, Hannibal09, highlighted the issue on a popular forum: “Based on the season till now, I feel our winger situation has become more pressing than the GK situation. Sancho and Neto are good carriers but have no goal threat in them. Madueke is the one who does have goal threat but he’s inconsistent, so it becomes difficult to trust him completely.”
They also pointed out how Chelsea’s reliance on Cole Palmer impacts the team’s effectiveness:
“Teams can just double or even triple up on Palmer and our goal threat reduces by a significant amount because even if he manages to somehow pass to either flank, there’s little chance that it’s going to result in something.”
Another fan, Akinskickers, proposed a potential solution: “Currently, Palmer is the best midfielder and winger we have at Chelsea. So if we can find a quality midfielder, we can shift Palmer to the wing. If we can’t find another midfielder, then we need to find a better winger and leave one of Noni and Pedro out.”
Supporter QCfcNobar summed up the broader squad needs: “We’re still a world-class winger and a decent centre-back away from competing.”
Echoing these sentiments, @thekingadjor passionately stated: “Trust me, we have a winger problem all over again! You can insult me as a Chelsea fan like some always do, but I’m telling you—we have a winger problem all over again!”
