Supercomputer gives final league prediction. Backs Chelsea to finish above Man City

Chelsea

Opta’s Premier League supercomputer has made its mid-season predictions, offering a glimmer of hope for Chelsea fans. The algorithm projects the Blues to secure a top-four finish, with a stronger likelihood of finishing third, ahead of defending champions Manchester City.

Liverpool are deemed overwhelming favourites to win the league, with an 89.9% chance, but Chelsea’s resurgence under Enzo Maresca has positioned them as serious contenders for Champions League qualification.

The west London club has not competed in Europe’s premier competition since the 2022/23 season when they finished third under Thomas Tuchel.

After a squad overhaul and promising performances this season, Chelsea climbed as high as second in the Premier League standings. However, a recent slump—earning just one point from a possible nine over the Christmas period—saw Chelsea drop to fourth.

Despite this, the supercomputer’s prediction underscores the progress Chelsea have made under Maresca, with a top-four finish now within reach. The remainder of the season will test their consistency and ability to maintain form in a fiercely competitive race for Champions League spots.
