Chelsea are reportedly weighing up the option of recalling Lesley Ugochukwu from his loan spell at Southampton in January, according to TalkSport.

The 20-year-old midfielder joined the Saints on loan during the summer, with Chelsea hoping he would gain valuable playing time in the Premier League. However, his opportunities have been limited, making just nine league appearances so far, only three of which were starts.

Ugochukwu’s involvement has seen a slight uptick since Southampton parted ways with head coach Russell Martin, but Chelsea remain concerned about his overall game time. Despite the improved situation, the Blues are yet to decide on the player’s immediate future.

The decision on whether to bring the French youngster back to Stamford Bridge or leave him at Southampton for the remainder of the season is expected to be made during the January transfer window.
