Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca showcased his uncompromising approach following the team’s 2-1 defeat to Fulham, making bold decisions that included omitting Noni Madueke and Renato Veiga from the matchday squad.

The Italian tactician addressed the exclusions post-game, emphasising the need for higher standards among his players.

“For sure, the competition has to be higher,” Maresca explained. “But not only for Noni Madueke; Renato Veiga was not in the squad, and the reason is exactly the same for both of them.”

Maresca clarified that the decisions were purely technical and not influenced by any other factors. “There is not any different reason; it’s just a technical decision,” he said, adding, “Sometimes we just take a decision, and it’s no more than that.”

Despite their omission, Maresca expressed confidence that both players would be ready to contribute in the future. “Yeah, for sure, they’ll be ready for the next game,” he assured.

Chelsea fans will now be eager to see how the squad responds to Maresca’s tough love as they prepare for their next challenge.
