Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca remains composed despite his team’s surprising home defeat to Fulham, expressing confidence in their ability to recover quickly as they prepare for Monday’s clash against Ipswich Town.
Reflecting on the result, Maresca hinted at potential changes to the lineup but emphasised the need to maintain focus. “We will see if we make one change or two changes or three changes, now it’s a bit early, but for sure we are going to change something,” he said.
Maresca also stressed the importance of resilience during a grueling December schedule, which has seen Chelsea play almost every three days. “For sure after a game you need to go again, no matter the result. Especially this month. We have already played eight or nine games in December, in 26 or 27 days. Now it’s also important to recover the energy and go again on Monday.”
The Chelsea boss acknowledged the challenges of maintaining consistency but remained pragmatic about the journey ahead. “We never thought we would win every game,” he admitted.
He also pointed to the team’s track record of bouncing back from defeats, using their earlier losses as motivation.
“We lost on the 18 August, and then after two months, and then after two months. But we know the reality is not just to lose one game every two months. It’s a matter of how we react and try to go again.”
