Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has heaped praise on Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, recognising the young forward’s immense potential and growth.
Delap, a former Manchester City academy product, has been a standout performer for Ipswich this season.
Having previously worked with Delap during his time at City, Enzo Maresca spoke highly of the player’s abilities and development ahead of Chelsea’s visit to Ipswich.
“Liam is a fantastic player,” Maresca said. “Also for his age, we spent one year together. I think in that season, he scored 22 or 24 goals.”
The Chelsea head coach highlighted Delap’s work ethic and game intelligence, calling him a valuable asset for English football. “This is a very good striker – as I’ve said many times, England are quite lucky because they have very good players, very good strikers,” he added. “He is working hard off the ball, on the ball he understands the game, and he can score goals.”
Maresca concluded with a bold prediction about Delap’s future. “Because of his age, I think he can be an important player for England.”
Such high praise from a former mentor underscores Delap’s bright prospects as he continues to make a name for himself in his club.
