Cole Palmer etched his name into Chelsea’s history books by breaking a 23-year-old club record with a sensational goal against Fulham in Thursday’s West London derby at Stamford Bridge.

The England international showcased his brilliance by weaving past multiple Fulham defenders before curling a stunning strike beyond goalkeeper Bernd Leno. The goal marked Palmer’s 12th of the season and his 26th in 2024, surpassing Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s 2001 record of 25 Premier League goals for Chelsea in a single calendar year.

Palmer’s feat places him above club legends such as Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard, further cementing his status as a rising star. Since his £42.5 million move from Manchester City in the summer of 2023, the forward has delivered an impressive 51 goals and assists in as many games.

Despite Palmer’s record-breaking performance, Chelsea suffered a 2-1 defeat as Fulham mounted a comeback with goals from Harry Wilson and Rodrigo Muniz. The loss added to the Blues’ recent struggles, leaving fans with mixed emotions on a night of individual brilliance overshadowed by collective disappointment.
