Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has shared a glimpse into his Christmas traditions, highlighting how he celebrates the holiday in both Argentina and England.

“Christmas is really important for me,” Fernandez revealed. “I remember when I was a child, Father Christmas gave me a football every year. Then one year, I got a PlayStation and I could play football on that!”

Reflecting on Argentine traditions, he shared some cherished memories. “Traditions from Argentina I liked would be having turron, a sweet treat, and a Russian salad. For religious reasons, some people might not eat meat, but generally speaking, there would be a BBQ. It would be beef ribs mainly, not so much turkey,” he explained.

Fernandez also spoke about how families in Argentina celebrate the holiday. “We would meet up with family on the 24th and stay together until 6am the next day. And we would then meet up in the local square on the 25th,” he said.

In England, Fernandez has embraced some new customs. “I like going to church and lighting a candle – and playing football!” he shared. However, he admitted, “As for the food, I haven’t eaten traditional English Christmas dinner yet.”

Last year, his family joined him in England for the holidays, helping him adjust to being away from Argentina. “Last year, my parents and my brothers and sisters came over to England for Christmas, which made it easier and helped me get over being away from Argentina for Christmas. This year, my parents will be here, too. Generally, the players spend Christmas with their families,” Fernandez added.
