Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has revealed that he played a pivotal role in bringing Moises Caicedo to Stamford Bridge, describing the Ecuadorian as an “exceptional player” and a “great person.” Fernandez expressed his admiration for his midfield partner and shared his hopes for a long-lasting partnership at the club.

Caicedo joined Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer of 2023 for a British record transfer fee of £115 million.

After a mixed start, he has established himself as a key figure in Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea setup. The duo has featured together in 55 of Caicedo’s 67 matches for the Blues, showcasing a strong and growing understanding on the pitch.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Fernandez praised Caicedo’s qualities and revealed his role in the transfer: “Sharing the pitch with Moi is incredible. I insisted a lot that he came to Chelsea when the club went to sign him. Now he’s here, you can see he’s not a normal player.”

The Argentine also highlighted Caicedo’s character and contribution to the team:

“He is a great person as well, and he brings us a lot as a team and as a teammate. We are getting on very well. Every day we understand each other more. He is an exceptional player.”

Fernandez concluded with a heartfelt wish:

“I hope to share many years with him on the pitch here at Chelsea.”
