Chelsea’s 0-0 draw with Everton saw Cole Palmer struggle to make an impact, a performance that didn’t surprise head coach Enzo Maresca.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Maresca acknowledged the challenges Chelsea faced in breaking down Everton’s disciplined defence.

“I said we knew already, it was a tough game to create chances,” Maresca explained. “In general, you struggle to create chances against them. There was no space for Cole.”

Despite Palmer’s subdued performance, Maresca highlighted the importance of capitalising on limited opportunities in such tightly contested matches.

“Overall, in this kind of game, you have to be clinical,” he added.
