Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have reignited their interest in Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, a player long admired by Chelsea. According to French Football Weekly, PSG have initiated contact with Osimhen regarding a potential move during the upcoming January transfer window.
Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, has been in exceptional form this season, recording nine goals and five assists in 12 matches. His impressive performances have attracted attention from several top European clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester United.
Chelsea have previously expressed strong interest in Osimhen, with reports suggesting that the player himself is keen on a move to Stamford Bridge. However, PSG’s renewed pursuit adds a competitive edge to the race for his signature.
The financial aspects of a potential transfer are complex. Osimhen’s loan agreement with Galatasaray includes a clause that allows him to leave in January if certain conditions are met. Additionally, his release clause is expected to decrease from £68 million in January to £63 million next summer, making him a more accessible target for interested clubs.
PSG’s interest in Osimhen is partly driven by their need to bolster their attacking options, especially given their recent challenges in the Champions League.
