Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has provided a crucial fitness update following their victory over Brentford, confirming that Joao Felix and Romeo Lavia may return for the next game. The duo’s potential availability will be a significant boost as the Blues navigate a congested fixture schedule.
Speaking to the media, Maresca revealed, “We had Joao and Romeo that probably can be available for the next one.” Both players have been sidelined in recent weeks, but their return could offer fresh options in attack and midfield.
Maresca also detailed other challenges faced by the squad, citing illness and suspensions that impacted player selection. “Carney [Chukwuemeka] after Astana was ill, Chilly (Ben Chilwell) was ill. Pedro [Neto] was suspended, and then we had Reece [James] and Wes [Fofana] injured,” he explained.
Adding to the list of setbacks, Maresca disclosed fresh injury concerns for Benoit Badiashile and the unavailability Mykhailo Mudryk. “Unfortunately during the session yesterday, Benoit [Badiashile] felt something, and Misha [Mudryk] is out too,” the manager stated.
When asked for further details on Badiashile’s condition, Maresca said, “Benoit had a problem yesterday during the session. For now, we do not know how long he will be out for.”
Despite these issues, Maresca remains optimistic about Lavia’s recovery. “As for Romeo, he can be available for the next game,” he confirmed.
With Felix and Lavia likely to bolster the squad, Chelsea fans will be eager to see how these returns impact the team’s momentum in the coming matches.
