Pep Guardiola couldn’t resist a dig at Chelsea while voicing his frustrations over the demanding fixture schedule.
The Manchester City boss, whose team has struggled recently with 8 losses in their last 11 games, contrasted his squad’s situation with Chelsea’s.
Speaking to reporters, Guardiola said, “Rodri played 75 games last season. Give them three months holiday, then after play 80 games.”
Chelsea, often mocked earlier in the season for their large squad under Enzo Maresca, now appear to be benefiting from their depth. While other teams deal with injury crises, the Blues remain in good shape halfway through the campaign.
In a pointed remark about squad sizes, Guardiola added, “Chelsea already have this squad but next season [we] will have to be 30 players!”
