Marc Guiu may have stolen the headlines with a stunning hat-trick against Shamrock Rovers, but Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca revealed that the young striker remains somewhat dissatisfied with his current game time.
Speaking after the match, Maresca acknowledged Guiu’s frustration but praised his professionalism and work ethic.
“Marc is a bit unhappy as Nicolas [Jackson] and Christopher [Nkunku] are doing well,” Maresca explained.
“When you’re a nine and another nine is doing well, it is a matter of being questioned. It is important that they work hard day-by-day and then they get a chance.”
Guiu’s performances in the Conference League have been nothing short of exceptional, with the youngster netting six goals in as many games. However, with Jackson and Nkunku firmly established in Chelsea’s Premier League setup, Guiu has struggled to secure consistent opportunities.
Maresca hinted that the festive period could open the door for Guiu to showcase his talents in the Premier League. “During the festive period, Guiu might get a chance in the Premier League,” he said, a prospect that will excite Chelsea fans eager to see more of the rising star.
