Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has revealed that the club has yet to decide whether Mykhailo Mudryk’s provisional doping ban will influence their transfer strategy in January.
Speaking about the uncertainty surrounding Mudryk, Maresca said, “We have now three or four games before January. We have Everton, Fulham, and Ipswich. Three games before January.”
The head coach emphasised that the club will evaluate their needs after these fixtures, adding, “So we have still three games and then after these three games we are going to sit and we are going to decide if we need to do something.”
In the meantime, Maresca is keen to give opportunities to young players like Tyrique George, highlighting the importance of integrating academy prospects into the first team. “For sure, Tyrique is going to get minutes, and we are going to try to help him to improve day by day because now he’s working with us every day, him and Josh, and to allow them to get minutes with us in the Premier League,” he said.
Mudryk, who has been provisionally suspended following a positive doping test, is awaiting the result of a B sample that will determine the severity of the situation. Both the player and the club remain hopeful for a resolution soon.
