Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan has weighed in on Mykhailo Mudryk’s temporary suspension following the Chelsea winger’s positive doping test.

Jordan expressed scepticism about the chances of a different outcome when the B-sample results arrive.

“According to statistics, I would say 99% of the time, the B sample is the same as the A sample, because they are taken in the same way. I don’t think anything will change with the B sample.”

Jordan also suggested that Mudryk’s absence is unlikely to have a significant impact on Chelsea’s current form, despite the hefty investment the club made in him.

He went on: “Chelsea are playing very well right now. I don’t think Mudryk’s absence really affects the team. The management might be disappointed because they spent 90 million on the player, and that could be a problem for them in the future.”

When asked if Chelsea could terminate Mudryk’s contract should he be punished, Jordan pointed out the complexity of the situation.

“I don’t know. It depends on what he is guilty of. It depends on the substance, the reason. With all due respect to the situation, the person in the greatest danger is the player. Chelsea can afford to lose money if they have to. They have very wealthy owners.”

He concluded by acknowledging the financial reality for Chelsea while emphasising Mudryk’s precarious position.

He concluded: “No one wants to lose tens of millions of pounds, but this will not determine Chelsea’s future.”

Jordan’s comments underline the seriousness of Mudryk’s situation as the investigation continues and Chelsea monitor developments.
