Barcelona have reportedly urged star defender Ronald Araujo to commit to a new contract, with discussions between the club and the player now appearing to be back on track.

Araujo, 25, has been linked with moves to both Manchester United and Chelsea, with the Premier League giants reportedly monitoring his situation closely.

Barcelona’s insistence on resolving his contract situation comes as offers were believed to be on the table for the defender to leave the club.

According to Sport, Barcelona president Joan Laporta has held talks with the Uruguay international, and progress has been made towards securing his long-term future at the Nou Camp.

The centre-back has been a key figure for Barcelona and remains a highly sought-after talent, attracting interest from Europe’s elite clubs. With his current contract set to expire in the summer of 2026, Chelsea and United were exploring the possibility of a move, should an agreement not be reached.
