Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has disabled comments on his Instagram account following recent reports of a positive doping test.
The Ukrainian international, who has over 2 million followers on the platform, made this move seemingly to avoid “hate and unnecessary questions amidst the scandal.”
The decision comes after news emerged that a banned substance was detected in Mudryk’s blood.
The 23-year-old had his “A” sample tested back in October 2024, with the opening of the “B” sample set to follow soon. Should the findings be confirmed, the player could face a lengthy suspension, potentially sidelining him for a significant period.
Mudryk has registered 3 goals and 5 assists in 15 matches across all competitions for Chelsea this season. Transfermarkt currently values the winger at €30 million.
The news has sparked widespread discussions, prompting Mudryk to shield himself from public reactions, as evident by restricting comments on his Instagram posts.
Meanwhile, Mudryk has now taken to social media to display his innocence.
Mudryk wrote: “I can confirm that I have been notified that a sample I provided to The FA contained a banned substance.
“This has come as a complete shock as I have never knowingly used any banned substances or broken any rules, and am working closely with my team to investigate how this could have happened.”
Mudryk remains confident that he has done nothing wrong and expressed hope that the situation will soon be resolved, allowing him to return to the pitch.
He concluded: “I know that I have not done anything wrong and remain hopeful that I will be back on the pitch soon. I cannot say any more now due to the confidentiality of the process, but I will as soon as I can.”
