Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk believes a contaminated substance imported from abroad may have caused his positive doping test result, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
Mudryk, who is provisionally suspended, has enlisted the help of a specialist legal firm to fight the allegations and prove his innocence.
The Ukrainian international insists he did not knowingly take any banned substances and is determined to disprove the findings during the ongoing investigation. Should he be charged with doping, Mudryk will also have the option to file an appeal.
Chelsea are reportedly standing by their player during this difficult period, while the Football Association has declined to comment on the matter.
The case remains under review as Mudryk and his legal team work to clear his name.
