Former Chelsea defender William Gallas has warned the club that Cole Palmer could become a target for European giants Real Madrid and Barcelona if his impressive performances continue.

“At the moment, I think only Real Madrid and Barcelona could tempt Cole Palmer away from Chelsea, and I think he would thrive playing his football in Spain,” Gallas told Prime Casino.

Palmer, who has quickly become a key player for Chelsea since his arrival from Manchester City, is under contract with the Blues until 2033. However, Gallas believes the 21-year-old’s talents make him an attractive prospect for La Liga’s biggest clubs.

“That could be three seasons in the future, but I think Chelsea fans should hope that neither of those clubs come in for him any time soon,” Gallas added.

While there is no indication that Real Madrid or Barcelona are currently pursuing Palmer, his performances have already positioned him as one of Europe’s brightest young talents.

Chelsea will be keen to hold onto their star as they continue to build a team capable of challenging for major honours.
