Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca addressed the club’s growing injury list after their hard-fought 2-1 victory over Brentford at Stamford Bridge.
Despite the challenges posed by absences, the Blues secured three vital points, keeping their title ambitions on track.
Despite the lengthy list of absentees, Maresca was quick to highlight the depth in his squad, humorously brushing off concerns about a lack of options.
He said: “We have 24 players. I don’t know about the rest of the Premier League clubs. If we have a big squad, then it means that most of the Premier League clubs have a big squad. Because we are at Chelsea, we have 45 players; every time, it is a big squad.”
Enzo Maresca also emphasised that Chelsea’s squad size is comparable to other Premier League teams.
Enzo Maresca brushed off talks from rival managers that Chelsea have a very large squad.
He concluded: “I’ve said many times, since I’ve started, we have worked with 24 or 25 players.
“If this means a big squad, then we have a big squad, but I think there are more Premier League clubs with the same amount of players.”
