Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella has shared his thoughts on social media following his controversial red card after the final whistle in the Blues’ 2-1 victory over Brentford at Stamford Bridge.

The Spanish left-back played a pivotal role in Chelsea’s success, scoring the opening goal in the 43rd minute to give the home side the lead. Nicolas Jackson added a second late in the game, securing the win despite Bryan Mbeumo’s 90th minute consolation goal for the visitors.

However, the match ended on a sour note for Cucurella, who was shown a second yellow card by referee Peter Bankes following an altercation with Brentford’s Kevin Schade after the final whistle. The Spaniard had already been booked during second-half injury time for a foul.

Despite the incident, Cucurella chose to focus on the positive result in his post-match message on social media.

Sharing his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote: “Good win at home to finish off the week! We go again.”

The dismissal means Cucurella will now face suspension, but his contribution to Chelsea’s victory will not go unnoticed. His goal marked a standout moment in a game where the Blues battled hard to secure all three points.
