Following Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over Brentford, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca addressed Marc Cucurella’s post-match red card and evaluated the team’s defensive efforts.

Regarding Marc Cucurella’s red card, Maresca commented: “I didn’t see the second yellow card. The referee said the second yellow card was for bad attitude. There are things we can do better.”

Assessing Chelsea’s defensive record, he noted: “Just two teams have conceded less than us. Defensively we’re not doing bad. We’d like to end with a clean sheet but there’s another team trying to score.”

Cucurella’s red card, issued after an altercation with Brentford’s Kevin Schade, means he will miss Chelsea’s upcoming Premier League match against Everton.

Despite the late concession, Chelsea’s defence has been a cornerstone of their recent success, with the team now just two points behind league leaders Liverpool.
