Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has lauded Robert Sanchez for his vital contribution in the Blues’ hard-fought win over Brentford, emphasising the goalkeeper’s consistent ability to deliver game-saving moments.

Sanchez’s crucial save from Christian Norgaard in the closing stages ensured Chelsea claimed all three points, and Maresca did not hold back in praising the Spaniard.

Reflecting on his recent performances, Maresca said, “If you remember, Bournemouth away, the penalty, against Aston Villa one-v-one against [Ollie] Watkins, and Nottingham Forest at the end of the game, the save. Tonight, the save.”

The Chelsea boss expressed his satisfaction with the competition between Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen, who has also impressed in the Conference League. Maresca noted, “We are happy with Robert. Sometimes when we say things, you struggle to believe. But Robert is doing fantastic, Filip [Jorgensen] is doing exactly the same in the Conference League.”

He added, “This is what we want; two goalkeepers that can compete and help us win games.”
