Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has dismissed concerns that his team has a discipline problem, despite the Blues accumulating a high number of yellow cards this season.
Speaking after their recent match against Brentford, Maresca acknowledged areas for improvement but expressed confidence in his team’s overall approach.
“No, no,” Maresca replied when asked if discipline was an issue. “I’ve said many times we can do many things better; the way we attack and the way we defend but also the way we need to manage some moments.”
He admitted that managing certain situations better could help reduce the bookings, stating, “This is probably one of the moments we can improve but overall, with the spirit of the team, we know that sometimes you can receive some yellow cards.”
Maresca also reflected on specific incidents, noting: “Probably the second one is not the correct one, or the correct thing to do, but there are things that we need to improve.”
The Chelsea boss remains optimistic that his squad can address these challenges while maintaining their competitive edge in the Premier League. With a title race in full swing, managing discipline could prove crucial in the weeks ahead.
